Based on the graphic novel by celebrated artist and filmmaker Joann Sfar, The Rabbi’s Cat tells the story of a rabbi and his cat, a talkative and witty philosopher in love with the rabbi’s daughter.

The film is set in a delightfully animated 1930s Algeria, an intersection of Jewish, Arab, and French culture. When the cat eats the family parrot and gains the ability to speak, the audience is sucked into to an exciting, colorful story about God, authority, love, death, and coexistence from an unexpected perspective.

Ponder
