Dutch-born New York-based Yona Verwer holds a master’s degree in fine art from the Royal Academy in The Hague, Netherlands.
Her artwork often exists within a historical framework or from a feminist or activist perspective, all through a Jewish lens. She is exploring the correspondence between spirituality and ecology in her new interactive series Living Waters. In the Fall of 2022, her work will be at the Bible Museum in Washington DC as part of the Samaritans exhibition.
She has shown and curated in venues such as the Jerusalem Biennale and the Skirball Museum. In NYC: the Andy Warhol Factory, the Bronx Museum, Y.U. Museum, and the Bernard Heller Museum.
Verwer has been featured in the New York Times, the New Yorker and the Huffington Post. She is the founding director of the non-profit Jewish Art Salon, a global network of contemporary artists and art professionals.
